CesiumAstro Awarded Contract by Air Force Research Laboratory for Skylark Ka-Band AESA User Terminal

AUSTIN, Texas, December 11, 2024 – CesiumAstro, a leader in advanced space connectivity solutions, has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory’s Integrated Experiments and Evaluation Branch (AFRL/RVE) to design, build, test, and deliver a Skylark LMG Ka-band active electronically steered array (AESA) user terminal within 12 months. This development aims to support a wide range of demonstration activities with military and commercial low-Earth orbit (LEO) constellations.

As a versatile platform, the Skylark LMG user terminal will enable AFRL to conduct demonstrations with multiple defense satellite constellations. Designed for scalability, the terminal will also support demonstrations with commercial LEO providers, allowing comprehensive testing across different satellite constellations.

After delivering the Skylark LMG user terminal to AFRL, the Skylark LMG aero terminal will undergo environmental qualification and flight tests. Designed for the in-flight connectivity market, its multi-orbit, multi-constellation capabilities offer the flexibility, reliability, and performance sought by both commercial and defense sectors.
